I am excited to announce that I have been accepted by the jury to participate in the Spring Sugarloaf show in Gaithersburg. I will be working hard this winter to produce some great pieces for this show. What a way to kick off the art season.

Garfield High School Craft Show

We had a good day meeting lots of nice folks. It was rather slow for me as I don't believe this to be my venue. There was a photographer beside me that also said it was slow in sales. The people were nice but I don't think they were looking for higher end art for Christmas presents. So needless to say, I don't believe I will participate next year. It is a great show if you are looking for inexpensive gift ideas.

Snowed out of the Fredericksburg Holiday Craft Show

Saturday we had a fantastic crowd (Thanks for all who came out). I’m guessing in anticipation for Sunday’s weather. On Sunday we barely had any guests come out…. Understandable as the weather was horrible with the freezing rain and snow. Half the vendors packed up on Saturday night as they lived in the path of the storm. The show went well even with the early closing on Sunday. I am however not sure if I will participate next year. Thank you again to all of you who came out and supported the local artisans.

It's been fun watching this one come alive. This is an 8 x 10 watercolor on Arches art board.This was my first time using the Arches Art Board... It is more obsorbant than most boards. It is nice and thick, and allows for many layers.  Now to find that perfect frame.....

Lioness - Watercolor Painting

This is a painting of a lioness that I am working on. She is just about finished. I am excited to say that this will be my first piece that I plan to clear coat with varnish so that I do not have to put it behind glass. I am excited to see how that turns out once it is framed.

Cougar - On the Hunt, Watercolor Painting

 

This is a watercolor painting of a cougar done on watercolor board. I am putting the final touches on this one. I usually allow my pieces to rest in the studio for several weeks / months while I study them. this allows me to see things that need to be tweeked that I don't see in the process of painting it. I hope to have this one completed for the Fredericksburg Expo Holiday Craft show on December 7th and 8th, 2013.

Preening - Watercolor Painting on the easel

This is a new piece I am working on using watercolor and watercolor board. I recently became a foster home to a scarlet macaw and I have been inspired to create a painting of him. This is Romeo.... I am still trying to obtain the right feel of warmth in the background... I will post more photos as the piece evolves.
